Aleisha Karjala is an award-winning professor of political science and has both lived in and served her community for 25 years. 

 

Aleisha currently serves on the Board of Directors for the League of Women Voters of Norman, League of Women Voters of Oklahoma, and Jazz in June. 

 

Aleisha previously served a term on city council, working on getting the senior center sited and built, a project that is now nearing completion. She also worked against militarizing the police, actively keeping the issue from reaching a council agenda and demanding comprehensive oversight of police body cams. Aleisha was integral in denying OG&E's 25-year franchise agreement request, advocating fo to deny a publicly funded arena in the University North Park.
